OSHA Focus Four: Electrocution

OSHA Focus Four: Electrocution is a 30-minute course built on 29 CFR 1926 Subpart K. It covers the three ways construction workers are electrocuted on site: contact with power lines, contact with energized sources, and misuse of extension and flexible cords.

  • Name the six things electricity does to a worker: shock, arc flash, electrocution, fire, burns and explosion.
  • Keep clear of overhead lines, and know the clearance distance that goes with the voltage you are working near.
  • Test a GFCI, spot a damaged or misused cord, and follow the lockout steps before anyone touches a circuit.
