Fire Watch – General Industry and Construction
eTraining’s Fire Watch – General Industry and Construction course is an online safety training program designed for workers designated as fire watches during hot work operations (welding, cutting, brazing, and other spark-producing activities). The course teaches workers the role and responsibilities of a fire watch as determined by OSHA regulations 29 CFR 1910.252 (General Requirements for Welding, Cutting, and Brazing), 29 CFR 1910.133, and 29 CFR 1910.38 (Emergency Action Plans). It is delivered through eTraining, an online safety training provider.
Training focuses on the OSHA regulations that govern fire watch requirements during hot work, the specific duties and responsibilities of a fire watch person, fire prevention and hazard identification during welding, cutting, and brazing operations, the importance of maintaining a fire watch for at least 30 minutes after hot work is completed, fire extinguisher types and use, emergency procedures, and the hot work permit system.
The course is 100% online, fully self-paced, and accessible on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Note: eTraining also offers a separate general Fire Safety course for broader fire safety training.
