Trenching & Excavation Safety
eTraining’s Trenching & Excavation Safety course is an online awareness-level training program designed for workers who will work in or around trenches, excavations, and below-ground areas. The course teaches workers how to recognize, avoid, and prevent hazards associated with trenching and excavation work in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.650 (Subpart P – Excavations).
Training focuses on the primary hazards of trenching and excavation work, including cave-ins (the leading cause of trenching fatalities), hazardous atmospheres, falls, falling loads, and contact with underground utilities. The course covers soil classification and testing, protective systems including sloping, benching, shoring, and shielding, competent person requirements, and safe work practices.
The course is 100% online, fully self-paced, and accessible on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Note: eTraining also offers a more in-depth Trenching & Excavation for the Competent Person course for workers who need competent person-level training.
