Ergonomics Training for the Site Worker
Ergonomics Training for the Site Worker is a 90-minute online course that teaches field and site crews to spot and control the strain of lifting, twisting, kneeling and tool vibration, using a job hazard analysis and the hierarchy of controls. The course teaches workers how to recognize ergonomic hazards and apply ergonomic principles to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in accordance with OSHA’s General Duty Clause (Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act) and OSHA ergonomics guidelines.
- Break each task into steps with a job hazard analysis and find the lifting, twisting and contact stress in it.
- Rank fixes with the hierarchy of controls, from lift assists and tool changes down to PPE as the last resort.
- Use knee pads, anti-vibration tools, longer handles and the right ladder, and report early aches quickly.
Note: eTraining also offers a separate Ergonomics Training for the Office Worker course for employees who work primarily at computer workstations.
